PEMBROKE — Abir Abumohsen, Victoria Huggins, Alexis Locklear and Elizabeth Ashlyn Locklear have all been named Chancellor’s Ambassadors for 2012-13 at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke.

The ambassadors are selected from a pool of applicants nominated by administrators of the university. They are scholars and student leaders, and were selected through an interview process that showcased their communications skills and comfort in social settings.

Abumohsen, a senior Art Education major, is a pre-med student and member of the Health Careers Access Program at UNCP.

Huggins, a sophomore mass communication major minoring in both music and religion, is president of the Lambda Sigma Honors Society.

Alexis Locklear, a junior mass communication major, is a news anchor for Carolina News Today, WNCP-TV’s news program that appears on Time Warner Cable Channel 6 in Robeson County.

Elizabeth Locklear, a junior mass communication major, is vice president of UNCP’s chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America and a member of Alpha Chi Honor Society.

Chancellor’s Ambassadors serve as greeters and hosts at special events sponsored by the Office of the Chancellor.
