LUMBERTON — Local accounting firm S. Preston Douglas & Associates recently joined Robeson Health Care Corporation and other businesses and organizations across North Carolina for the second annual Certified Public Accountant Day of Service.

The day allows CPAs to give back to the community through volunteer service with a charitable organization of their choice.

S. Preston Douglas & Associates worked with Robeson Health Care Corporation to complete an exterior painting project at Grace Court, a supervised living facility for women dealing with substance abuse issues and their children. A group of 10 accountants and staff members from the firm participated.

“Our firm has been fortunate enough to serve clients in this area since 1941 and it is important for us to give back to the community,” said John Grissom, a partner at S. Preston Douglas & Associates.

The Day of Service is sponsored by the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants. About 2,000 CPAs and staff members throughout the state participated this year.

The goal of the Day of Service is to allow CPAs to show their dedication to the cities and towns in which they live and to highlight the many ways they give back to their communities on a regular basis.

S. Preston Douglas & Associates is a full‐service accounting firm serving Southeastern North Carolina since 1941 with offices in Lumberton, Elizabethtown and Whiteville. The firm has seven partners and more than 25 accounting staff members.
