LUMBERTON — Southeastern Hospice’s three-day Festival of Trees event, with its “Traditions of the Season” theme, will open its doors today in the Osterneck Auditorium at 102 N. Chestnut St., from 1 to 5 p.m. It will continue Monday and Tuesday, open each day from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Baked goods, crafts and holiday gifts will be for sale at the Unique Boutique gift shop. There will also be a Memorial Tree featuring the names of Southeastern Hospice patients who have passed away since December 2012.

Funds raised by the festival benefit Southeastern Hospice and Camp Care, an annual weekend camp for children 8 to 16 years old who have experienced the death of a loved one.

Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for seniors and children over the age of 12. Children under 12 and members of Southeastern’s PrivilegesPlus program will be admitted at no charge. For information, call 910-671-5577.

LUMBERTON — Biggs Park Mall and Southeastern Health’s Community Health Education Center will partner to host a Holiday Mall Mile event on Wednesday.

The general public is invited to walk around the inside of the mall from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. to maintain their good health during the holiday season. Walkers should register at the center for refreshments and prizes. For information, call 910-671-9393.

LUMBERTON — Dr. Eric Velazquez, of Southeastern Surgical Center, will host seminars on a variety of weight loss surgery options, including adjustable gastric band, sleeve gastrectomy, and Roux-en-Y gastric bypass from 6 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Southeastern Weight Loss Center, located within the Southeastern Health Mall on the campus of Biggs Park Mall, and on January 22 at Southeastern Medical Clinic Gray’s Creek.

Dr. Barry Williamson, of Lumberton Surgical Associates, will host a seminar on LAP-BAND on Dec. 17 from 6 to 7 p.m., also at the weight loss center.

LUMBERTON — Experience the joy of sharing by dropping off healthy canned goods for the Lumberton Christian Care Soup Kitchen and exchanging healthy recipes on Dec. 17 at 8 a.m. in the retail space beside Belk at Biggs Park Mall.
