Rev. Wayman Hill

Laurinburg

Rev. Wayman “Buzz” Marcus Hill, 67, of Laurinburg, departed this life for his Heavenly home on Aug. 28, 2012.

The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Huckabee Grove Emanuel Holiness Church, officiated by the Revs. Larry Singletary and Ervin Taylor. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park.

Wayman was born March 31, 1945. He was son of the late Robert and Martha Clark Hill. He was a proud veteran that served with the United States Army. He was a retired minister that served the Lord faithfully for churches in the Emanuel Holiness Conference. His service included churches in Laurinburg, Laurel Hill, Lumberton, St. Paul, Rockingham, Dillon, S.C., and Danville, Va. He was also a retired funeral assistant with the former Gaskins Funeral Home in Red Springs and Rowland. Buzz was devoted to his family and truly enjoyed all their times together.

He is survived by his wife, Frieda “Joann” Hill of their home in Laurinburg; a son, Mark Hill and wife Brooke of Laurinburg; his daughters, Robin Tyler and husband Wayne of Hope Mills, and Patricia Hill of the home; brothers, Wayne Wright and wife Marie Lou of Augusta, Ga., and Kelly Rouse of Laurinburg; sisters, Kaye Whitmore and husband Carl Whitmore of Laurinburg, Faye Singletary and husband the Rev. Larry Singletary of Laurel Hill; his grandchildren, Michael Tyler, Kaitlyn Tyler, Austin Tyler, Sailor Hill, Mark Hill; and a host of family and friends.

The visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at Richard Boles Funeral Service.

Alice Lynn Bissell, 50, of Lumberton, passed away Aug. 28, 2012, at Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Floyd Memorial Chapel with Evangelist Donald Rabon officiating. Burial will follow at Floyd Memory Gardens in Lumberton.

She was born in Robeson County on Sept. 22, 1961.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Grady and Jewel Bissell.

She is survived by a daughter, Jill Bissell-Bruce and husband Richard, of Lumberton; a brother, Billy Martin of Charleston, S.C.; a sister, Rita Batten of Lumberton; a nephew, Brad Thompson of Lumberton; a great-nephew, Seth Thompson of Lumberton; a great-aunt, Gayle Bryan of Bladenboro; and a beloved aunt, Alice of California.

The visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday before the funeral at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory Inc., 809 E. Fifth St., Lumberton.

Doris Marcella West, 79, of Lumberton, passed away on Aug. 28, 2012, at Woodhaven Nursing Center.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Lumberton, the Rev. Joe Bounds officiating.

She was born in Robeson County on Aug. 12, 1933.

She is survived by her cousin and caregiver, Sally P. Baxley of Lumberton; her cousin, Sheila P. Morgan, also of Lumberton, and her special family, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Lewis and Children of Lumberton.

Surviving are a brother, Eugene of Tampa, Fla.; and two sisters, Katie Clary of Raleigh and Catherine Deese of Charlotte.

William Furnie Ezzell, 85, of Bladenboro, died Aug. 29, 2012, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Shady Grove Baptist Church. Burial will be at Western Prong Church Cemetery following the service.

Surviving are his wife, Shulah Mae Ezzell of the home; brother, David Ezzell of Clarkton; and two sisters, Nancy Gore of Whiteville and Lillie Bell Hyatt of Bladenboro.

David Howard Russ, 45, of Marsh Road, Bladenboro, died Aug. 16, 2012, at home.

He is survived by his brother, Daniel Wayne Russ of Rockingham.

Charles Culmer, 73, of 401 S. Hickory St., formerly of Philadelphia, died Aug. 28, 2012, at Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church in Rowland, the Rev. Samuel McCormick officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Rowland.

Surviving are his wife, Clara Culmer; and a sister, Marie Brown.

The visitation will be at noon Saturday at the church.
