PEMBROKE — A Lumberton woman says she was sexually assaulted before she was able to escape from her attacker on Friday night, according to a report filed with the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office.

The 39-year-old woman was walking on Joseph H. Drive off of N.C. 711 between 11 and 11:30 p.m. when she was approached by a man driving a blue Buick, the report said. According to the report, the man forced her into his car at gunpoint and sexually assaulted her before she was able to jump out and flee.

The report did not include any further description of the car or the man driving it except for his race.

The Robesonian has elected to withhold the woman’s name because of the alleged sexual assault.
