Lonnie Locklear Jr.

PEMBROKE — Mr. Lonnie Locklear Jr., 77, of 465 Lonnie Farm Road, was born March 20, 1936, to the late Mr. Lonnie Sr. and Mrs. Flara B. Oxendine Locklear. He made his heavenly journey home on March 9, 2014.

The funeral will be conducted 4 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Airy Baptist Church, the Revs. Steve Strickland and Adrian Hammonds officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Airy Church Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Mrs. Christine C. Locklear, who passed on this same date the previous year; a brother, Mr. William K. Locklear (Christine); a sister, Mrs. Adelaide Locklear (Johnson); a sister-in-law, Mrs. Adrene Locklear; and three brothers-in-law, Mr. Bracey Cummings, Mr. Charlie Locklear and Mr. Gene Paulk.

Mr. Lonnie was the owner of Lonnie Locklear Jr. & Sons Construction Company Inc., which he operated with his wife and sons for 25 years.

Surviving are his sons, Mr. Kelly Lorenzo Locklear, Mr. Trent Andre’ Locklear (Debra), Mr. Maurice Pierre Locklear (Kelly); a special son, Mr. Ted Holmes; 10 grandchildren, Casey Locklear, Ariel J. Morton (Brett), Alana Locklear, Katelyn Locklear, Bret Locklear, Zachary Locklear, Tala Locklear, Hunter Locklear, Andre Locklear and Jaden Locklear; two great-grandchildren, Londyn Locklear and Nevaeh Morton; a brother, Mr. Rencil P. Locklear; his sisters, Marniece L. Cummings, Mrs. Clella Locklear and Mrs. Nellie Paulk; his cherished pet, Sheba; and a host of relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Mt. Airy Baptist Church.
