PEMBROKE — A charity bike run will be held today to benefit Savon Maultsby and Richard Biggins, assistant principals at Lumberton High School who are battling cancer.

Proceeds from the event will be used to help cover the various medical expenses incurred as part of their treatment at Duke University Medical Center, in addition to the cost of travel, food and lodging.

The event will be held behind the C&P Minimart on Union Chapel Road in Pembroke. Registration is $10 for one rider, $15 for two riders. Registration will take place from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Food and door prizes will be offered at Lumberton High School.

In the event of rain, the ride will be rescheduled for April 13.
