FAYETTEVILLE — The Child Advocacy Center of Fayetteville will hold the American Girl Fashion Show, a program that showcases historical and contemporary fashions for girls and their dolls, on March 23 and March 24 at the Crown Center Ballroom in Fayetteville.
More than 130 local and regional girl models will present the fashions. Refreshments, party favors, raffles and door prizes will be available.
Proceeds from tickets, which start at $60, benefit the Child Advocacy Center’s child abuse prevention and intervention programs. Tickets may be purchased at www.ticketmaster.com or in person at the Crown Center box office at 1960 Coliseum Drive.
LUMBERTON — A juried art show, “Carolina’s Got Art!”, is accepting submissions of paintings, photography, sculptures, woven pieces and ceramics by artists from North Carolina and South Carolina to be judged.
The winner, whose work will be judged by art critic, Lance Esplund, of Bloomberg and The Wall Street Journal, will receive $15,000 in cash and prizes.

LUMBERTON — The Carolina Civic Center Historic Theater’s “Beyond Art,” the annual art educators of the Public Schools of Robeson County exhibit, will be on display in the theater’s lobby starting with a free reception on Feb. 21 at 5:30 p.m. The exhibit will close on April 2.
Works, which are available for sale, include crafts, photography, sculpture, drawing, printmaking and painting. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the theater’s educational programming.

PEMBROKE — The River Roots Arts Guild will hold a free arts showcase on Friday at the Chavis Center Annex at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.
There will be gourds, beadwork, jewelry, hand-dyed scarves, prints and paintings for sale.

LUMBERTON — The Robeson County Shrine Club will hold its 30th annual Valentine Dance at the Southeastern N.C. Agricultural Events Center on Feb. 9 from 8 p.m. to midnight.
The dress code is dressy-casual, and attendants can bring coolers.

PINEHURST — The Ruth Pauley Lecture Series will hold a presentation by Green Beret Master Stg. Mark Vomund called “From Soldier to Survivor: One Man’s Life Changing Event” on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Owens Auditorium on the Sandhills Community College campus in Pinehurst.
Vomund will discuss his challenges after being wounded by an explosive in Afghanistan.
