Fairmont Chamber tourney tees off Friday

The sixth annual Fairmont Chamber of Commerce Farmers Festival Golf Tournament is almost here.

The four-person team tournament is scheduled for a 1 p.m. shotgun start on Friday at Fairmont Golf Club.

There’s a $50 fee per player or $200 per team, which includes cart and greens fees, a mulligan, a red tee, range balls, prizes, and lunch and dinner. The entry deadline is Wednesday and the field will be limited to the first 25 teams. Contact the club for information.

The Jason Hunt tournament will be played on Nov. 2. The four-person captain’s choice tees off with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. For information, call Kenny Hunt at 910-536-3266.

Missionary Fried will be holding a four-person captain’s choice tournament at 9 a.m. on Nov. 23. For information, call Dalma Cribb at 910-234-0682.

Land-O-Lake GC

The Whiteville Department of Corrections hosted a tournament Oct. 4 that benefitted Special Olympics of North Carolina.

The tournament included a hole-in-one by Willie Jacobs on No.14. Jacobs scored an ace after sinking a 8-iron from the tee of the 137-yard, par 3 hole. He was playing with Joe Locklear, Willie Oxendine and Don Hunt.

Cliffwood GC

Cliffwood will be holding a tournament the day after Thanksgiving. The Turkey Shootout, a two-man captain’s choice tournament, will tee off at noon with a shotgun start.

Texas Scramble winners from Oct. 4 were Jimmy Stone, Tom Jones, Tommy Newberry and Charlie Bruce.

Tim Parnell and Tim Rice won the championship flight of Tuesday’s senior shootout. Ed Williams and Jerry Jolly won the second flight.

Wednesday’s Texas Scramble winners were Mel Britt,Tom Jones,Tommy Newberry and Tim Parnell.

Senior shootout is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday.
