James Ray Locklear

James Ray “Yunkie” Locklear, 49, of Lumberton, passed away Sept. 11, 2012, at Brookside Rehab Center in Burnsville. He was born on June 9, 1963, in Sebring, Fla., to Hubert Locklear and the late Pauline Epps Locklear.

A funeral will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Floyd Memorial Chapel, Pastor Chris Locklear officiating.

He is survived by his father; his stepmother, Carolyn Locklear, of the home; two brothers, David Earl Locklear and Hubert Ray Locklear, both of Lumberton; four stepbrothers, Jeffery Moody of Lumberton, Robert Moody, of Moorestown, Tenn., Michael Moody, of Whiteville, and Chester Leach, of Georgetown, Ky.; a sister, Dolores Gomez, of Lumberton; four stepsisters, Pam Leach of Lumberton, Deborah Bishop of Lexington, Ky., Tammy Leach of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and Selena Kay Castillejos of Newberry, S.C.; and many nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be from 7 to 9 tonight at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory Inc. at 809 E. Fifth St., Lumberton.

Evelyn Bennett, 67, of 612 Amberdale Circle West, died Sept. 11, 2012, at Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Pelier Presbyterian Church Cemetery, the Rev. Hazel Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

She was the daughter of the late Colon and Everlena McRae of Rowland.

Surviving are her husband, the Rev. Johnie Bennett; four daughters, Michele Bennett Haile, Tonia Quintero, Robin Jones and Christa Vessells; three brothers, James McRae, Grover McRae and Charl McRae; two sisters, Alberta Pittman and Joyce Ann McRae; and 10 grandchildren.

The visitation will be from noon on Saturday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the David A. Harmon Scholarship Foundation in honor of Evelyn G. Bennett, St. John’s Presbyterian Church, Detroit, Mich.
