Dr. Elizabeth H. Kuo, 70, of Cary, died July 15, 2005.
A private memorial will be in New York, and she will be interred next to her husband in Raleigh Memorial Park.
Kuo, a native of Taiwan, received her bachelor's degree from National Taiwan University, her master's degree from the University of Georgia and her doctorate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She was a geography professor at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke for 29 years before retiring in 1996. She lived in Lumberton for 27 years before moving to Cary. She volunteered her time to organizations such as the Bond Park Total Life Center and Davis Drive Elementary School.
The family said: “She enjoyed being a grandmother, traveling with family and friends and was a member of the Evangelical Formosan Church in Cary.”
She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, David K. Kuo, in 2002.
Surviving are a son, Henry Kuo, and his wife, Irene; a daughter, Suzanne Peercy, and her husband, Michael; two grandchildren; and four brothers.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Brown Wynne Funeral Home, 200 S.E. Maynard Road, Cary.
Memorials may be made to the David and Elizabeth Kuo Endowed Scholarship at UNC-Pembroke, made payable to UNCP Foundation and mailed to UNC-Pembroke, Office of Advancement, P.O. Box 1510, Pembroke, N.C., 28372.
