FAIRMONT — Karan Bullock, the site manager of Woodfield I & II Apartments in Fairmont, recently received the Director’s Award for Outstanding Site Manager for 2011.
The award was given to her at the Partnership Property Management annual awards banquet in Florence, S.C. There were nominees from 63 properties.
Bullock has worked with Partnership Property Management since 2008. Partnership Property Management employs over 350 full and part-time employees, with the corporate office located in Greensboro and a branch office in Florence.
LUMBERTON — Agriculture business seminars will be held through February at Robeson Community College starting Jan. 23.
The free seminars will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. in Building 9, Room 901. On Jan. 23 and 24, the focus will be an introduction to business planning and exploring agricultural business ideas. Marketing and business operations will be discussed on Jan. 30 and Jan. 31, business financial information will be discussed on Feb. 6 and Feb. 7, and a wrap-up and business plan presentation will be held Feb. 13. Participants will have the opportunity to compete in a business plan competition for a $1,000 prize. Individuals who attend all seven seminars will get a certificate.

PEMBROKE — The fourth annual Entrepreneurship Summit will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Feb. 23 at the Regional Center for Economic, Community and Professional Development at COMtech. It is open to the public.
The theme will be small business/entrepreneurial growth and sustainability.
PEMBROKE — The Pembroke Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual awards banquet at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 3 at the University Center Annex at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke.
Tickets are $50 each and a corporate table of six is $250.

recalls is Jan. 31
RALEIGH — A workshop called Protecting Your Business, Preventing a Recall will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Jan. 31 at the Union County Cooperative Extension building in Monroe.
The workshop, which costs $20, is geared toward small food businesses. Topics covered will include the economics of food recalls, how to communicate with customers and the public during a recall, and tips to prevent food-borne disease outbreaks. The registration deadline is Jan. 22.
