To the Editor,
Walk with us to make a difference in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease. You can help us raise awareness of this dreaded, traumatic, debilitating, non-discriminating, frustrating, depressing and tragic disease.
Robeson County Alzheimer’s Walk for Memory is a satellite fundraiser for Alzheimer’s North Carolina Inc. Our organization is dedicated to providing education, support and services to individuals with dementia, their families, health care professionals and the general public while raising awareness and funding for research.
One hundred percent of donations remain in North Carolina to assist families affected by dementia. Some of the services offered are an 800 Helpline, more than 70 support groups, educational and training programs for families and professionals, lending library of books and videos, Family Resource Center, free information packets, individual and family counseling, newsletter, and emergency respite.
If you have ever had a family member, friend or an acquaintance with Alzheimer’s disease, then you know the devastation of the physical, emotional, spiritual, and financial burdens that are shouldered by not only the person with the disease, but family and friends also.
How can you help?
Recruit two to five team members, and ask each of them to recruit two to five team members. Before you know it, you’ll have a great team.
Get to work for the cause by using your collective brain power to develop some fundraising ideas.
Use the tools from the website to help: www.alznc.org
We invite everyone to walk with us on Saturday, Oct. 19, at Luther Britt Park, Shelter B. All participants will receive a T-shirt, and there will be light refreshments and entertainment. If everyone in Robeson County who has been touched by someone with Alzheimer’s disease participates, we would have the Walk of the Century.
