Revels, Tribal Council have embarrassed tribe

November 7, 2013

To the Editor,

This is in response to the letter to the editor from Samuel Kearns in The Robesonian on Oct. 15.

In short, Mr. Kerns states that the Lumbee Tribal Supreme Court did not have any authority to remove Pearlean Revels from her position of tribal speaker and the decision to ban her from any tribal-related activities for five years.

Mr. Kerns, I submit to you that Pearlean Revels has caused nothing but trouble. She has been an embarrassment to her position and to the Lumbee Tribe and Lumbee people. She should have been removed a long time ago.

I also submit to you Mr. Kerns that all of the council members who signed that petition to remove Chairman Paul Brooks from office should be removed themselves.

Pearlean Revels and her followers on the Tribal Council are acting like a bunch of spoiled brats. Their behavior has severely hurt the Lumbee Tribe. I hope that the Lumbee tribe and its people can now move forward.
