Spring Fling on Tuesday


LUMBERTON — Southeastern Hospice will host its annual Spring Fling event — this year themed ‘Preparing You for the Great Getaway’ — on Tuesday at Pinecrest Country Club. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for refreshments and shopping for unique graduation, Mother’s Day and wedding gifts.


Sessions will be offered on the following topics: getting your body in shape; dressing for your body type; accessories: how to wear and store them; and efficient packing for your getaway.


All money from the event will benefit Southeastern Hospice’s at-home patients and families, those at Southeastern Hospice House and Camp Care, a weekend bereavement experience for children.

Laughter yoga class held


LUMBERTON — Southeastern Health’s Community Health Education Center will host a Laughter Yoga session on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. at the center in Biggs Park Mall. For information, call 910-671-9393.


Oral cancer focus of walk


LUMBERTON — Catherine Gaines, a patient navigator and physician assistant at Gibson Cancer Center, will present information on head and neck cancer on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the retail space beside Belk at Biggs Park Mall.


Participants will be invited to walk around the mall at 11:30 a.m. with Dr. Jeffrey Campbell, an ear, nose and throat specialist with Campbell ENT and Facial Plastic Surgery. The event is sponsored by Biggs Park Mall and Gibson Cancer Center, an affiliate of Southeastern Health. For more information, call 910-671-5762.


Oral cancer test offered


LUMBERTON — Gibson Cancer Center, in collaboration with Dr. Christopher Karshner, will offer free oral cancer screenings in observance of the 17th annual Oral, Head, and Neck Cancer Awareness Week. The screenings will be held Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and April 24 from noon to 2 p.m. at Gane and Karshner Family Dentistry, located at 4309 Ludgate St. Pre-registration is required by calling 910-671-5768.
