Lumberton team falls in tournament opener

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Lumberton Major All-Star team was knocked off in its first game of the National Youth Baseball Championships.

Ocala Highlands, the Babe Ruth representative, scored five runs in the top of the fourth and four more in the fifth to pull away for a 16-8 victory.

Daniel Oxendine had four hits and three RBI for Lumberton, while Alec Brewington, Raleigh Forrest, Austin Swiderski and Travis Suggs each had two hits.

Lumberton will return to action later Friday against DBAT Mustangs Red, the American Amateur Baseball Congress representative.
