RED SPRINGS — About 150 toys and more than $4,000 was donated Nov. 11 during the annual Red Springs Toy Run.

The run, featuring over 175 bikes and more than 220 bikers, was staged to collect toys and money to assist families in the community during the Christmas season. The run was sponsored by the Red Springs Rotary Club.

This year the ride started at the Red Springs Fire Department and rode toward Pembroke, continued to Laurinburg and over to Raeford before returning to Red Springs.

Black Velvet featuring KasCie Page and Robbie Lee VanHoy provided live entertainment.

Volunteers cooked a lunch of hamburgers, hotdogs, chili and chicken bog for the riders.

The toys will be distributed by Santa’s Helping Hand, the Pembroke Housing Authority, the Red Springs, Raeford and Laurinburg Police departments, and other groups.

Bikers are scheduled to ride next year on Nov. 10.
