LUMBERTON — Two doctors recently joined Southeastern Health’s medical staff.
Dr. Jeff Grimm has joined Southeastern Medical Clinic Gray’s Creek, and Dr. Rakesh Kumar, a general surgeon, has joined Southeastern Surgical Center.
Grimm returned to Southeastern Health after practicing in Americus, Ga., and Raleigh. Grimm worked with Southeastern Regional Medical Center’s hospitalist program from 2006 to 2015. He also worked in Southeastern Health’s Southeastern Medical Clinic Fairmont and Dr. A. J. Robinson Medical Clinic from 2000 to 2004.
A native of Harrisburg, Pa., Grimm received his doctorate in medicine and specialty training in family medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina. He is certified by the American Board of Physician Specialties in family practice. His special interests are treating sports injuries and obesity.
He and his wife, Gina, live in Whispering Pines and have four children and a grandchild.

Kumar received his medical degree in 2002 from Maulana Azad Medical College in New Delhi, India. He also completed a master’s degree in surgery at Maulana Azad Medical College in New Delhi in 2007. He completed a general surgery residency in 2017 at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., where he served as chief resident from 2016 to2017.
He is board eligible in general surgery. His areas of interest include breast surgery, laparoscopic surgery and endoscopy.
He lives in Lumberton with his wife, Dr. Mandeep Kaur, who practices psychiatry at Southeastern Health’s Southeastern Psychiatry Clinic in Lumberton. They have a daughter.
