Robinson holds block party Saturday

LUMBERTON — A Newtown Community Block Party will provide food and fun on Saturday at Booker Street Park.

The party will start at 11 a.m. and end at 4 p.m at the park, which is at 1836 Booker St. The public can enjoy food, drinks, a horseshoe contest, music, and activities such as a water slide, bingo, a bouncy house and games.

It is being sponsored by City Councilman John Robinson, the city of Lumberton and the Newtown Community.

The purpose for this event is to show fellowship and support for Lumberton with the residents of Lumberton in the wake of Hurricane Matthew, Robinson said.
