LUMBERTON — A Fayetteville man was arrested Tuesday and charged with the shooting death of a Raeford man at a Lumber Bridge business.

Steven Lewis Lugo-Perez was charged with second-degree murder for the death of Gregory Harris Jr., according to Maj. Anthony Thompson, of the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office. Lugo-Perez was placed in the Robeson County Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond.

The shooting took place about 1 a.m. Tuesday in the parking lot of Café 71, according to Thompson. When deputies arrived Harris was lying on the ground dead near the gas pumps.

An investigation revealed that Harris, 22, and several other men met Lugo-Perez in Cafe 71’s parking lot to discuss a problem between one of the other males and Lugo-Perez’s girlfriend. Harris was shot during a verbal altercation with Lugo-Perez, who was armed. No one else was injured.
