LUMBERTON — The City-Wide Rejuvenation Day has been rescheduled for this coming Saturday because of rain early today and the threat of more.
The event, hosted by the City of Lumberton and Gregory Mitchell Ministries, was to take place from 11 to 3 p.m. at Northeast Park located at 500 Hornet Road in Lumberton on Saturday. The times and venue will remain the same.
“We thought it would rain so we decided to wait,” said Laney McIntosh, one of the coordinators of the event.
According to the National Weather Service, the Lumberton forecast showed a 60 percent chance of thunderstorms throughout the day.
Organizers have said the event is intended to help people move on from Hurricane Matthew.
Free school supplies will be given out during the event, and free hot dogs will be served. There also will be live entertainment, a vintage car show and health screenings. Bounce houses, and wet and dry slides will be available for the children.
