PEMBROKE — Beth Wood, the state auditor for North Carolina, will be the guest speaker Wednesday when the Pembroke Kiwanis Club meets.

The meeting is at noon at Sheff’s Seafood, located at 100 W. Third St. The public is welcome, but anyone not a member of the club would be responsible for the cost of his or her lunch.

According to Wood’s office, she will speak about the $22 billion state budget, how her office works to protect North Carolina’s AAA bond rating and ways the office tries to prevent wasteful and inefficient spending of tax dollars. Wood’s office said she will not talk politics.
