WILMINGTON — A Red Cross blood drive has been scheduled for Saturday in Pembroke as part of a campaign to encourage blood and platelet donations during National Preparedness Month, which is September. Several more are scheduled locally next week.

Saturday’s blood drive will be 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Burnt Swamp Baptist Church, located at 216 Evergreen Church Road.

Three other blood drives have been scheduled in Robeson County during September. They are: Wednesday from noon to 4:30 p.m. at the The Life Center, 404 E. McLean St. in St. Pauls; Sept. 21 from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., The University of North Carolina at Pembroke, 1 University Drive in Pembroke; and Sept. 22 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Fairmont High School, 5419 Old Stage Road in Fairmont.

All blood types are currently needed. Appointments can be made by using the Blood Donor App, visiting redcrossblood.org or calling 1-800-RED CROSS. To help reduce wait times, donors are encouraged to make appointments and to complete their pre-donation reading and health history questions online, on the day of their donation, from a computer or mobile device at redcrossblood.org/rapidpass.

People who donate blood or platelets through Sept. 30, will receive a coupon for a free haircut at participating Sport Clips locations. More information is available at redcrossblood.org/sport-clips.
