RALEIGH — The senior member of Robeson County’s legislative delegation will be interviewed for the popular HBO show “VICE” that will air twice tonight.

Rep. Garland Pierce, a Wagram Democrat who has represented House District 48 since 2004, will speak about gerrymandering, which is the practice of manipulating district lines in an effort to give one political party a voting advantage over the other party. District 48 includes parts of Robeson, Scotland, Hoke and Richmond counties.

It is one of many House districts that have been ordered by a court to be redrawn because Republicans in charge of the North Carolina General Assembly were found to have stacked the districts.

According to Pierce’s office, the show will feature District 48 as one with “bizarre district lines.” The show is expected to depict Pierce in his district interacting with his constituents.

“I hope that many will take advantage of this opportunity to watch this TV special on this important issue,” Pierce said.

The show will air at 7:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.
