LUMBERTON — Sign-up dates for a program to help low-income families meet their energy needs have been announced by the Robeson County Department of Social Services.

Enrollment for the Low Income Energy Assistance Program are Dec. 1 to Dec. 31 for families who have a member age 60 or older or a member receiving assistance through the Division of Aging and Adult Services; everyone else can register from Jan. 1 through March 31.

To be eligible for the energy assistance program, a household must be vulnerable for their heat source at the time of application, must meet income eligibility, and must have $2,500 or less in resources.

All American Indians in Robeson County must apply for energy assistance at the appropriate Lumbee Tribe office.
