MAXTON — No charges have been filed in a stabbing death last week that has left two young women without a father.

Sheriff’s Capt. James Obershea said in a statement today that 44-year-old Eddie Ammons died at Scotland Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, shortly after he was stabbed at about 5:25 a.m. at 1379 Midway Road in Maxton.

The statement said Ammons, who lived on Hypony Trail in Parkton, and Emanuel Oxendine Jr., whose address and age were not provided in the statement, got into a physical confrontation concerning a woman who lives at the Midway Road address and that Ammons was stabbed.

An autopsy by the state Medical Examiner’s Office showed Ammons died of a single wound.

The statement did not say why no charges have been filed.

The mother of Ammons’ children, Tinker Bordeaux, contacted The Robesonian about his death. She said Ammons’ two children by her are Brittany, 21, and Brianna, 15, and that he had worked as an electrician.

“We just want to know why no one is being charged,” said Bordeaux, adding that she and Ammons were no longer a couple. “His daughters are devastated.”
