Traffic stop leads to drug charges

LUMBERTON — A 34-year-old Rowland man was arrested after a traffic stop this week during which drugs were found in his vehicle, according to police Capt. Terry Parker.

Jaralyn Edmond Brown Jr., who lives on Hickory Street, is charged with trafficking in Ecstasy by possession, trafficking in Ecstasy by transportation, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, and felony possession of marijuana, according to a statement by Parker. He was jailed under a $25,000 bond.

Parker said that Brown was driving a Buick Lacrosse that was stopped at 32nd and Elm streets at 4:47 p.m. Monday and a dog was called in to search the vehicle. The statement said Brown was arrested after he was found to be in “in possession of a trafficking amount of Ecstasy and a large quantity of marijuana.”
