LUMBERTON — The public is welcome Monday night as the Lumberton City Council holds a swearing-in ceremony for four members who were elected in November — three incumbents and a newcomer.
The ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. in the council chambers at City Hall. Afterward, there will be a reception with light refreshments.
Owen Thomas will be joining the council as the representative for Precinct 8. He defeated Erich Hackney, who was seeking his fifth term as a councilman.
Also on Monday, Burnis Wilkins will be sworn in for a second term as the Precinct 3 representative, John Robinson to a third term as the Precinct 2 representative, and John Cantey to a fourth term as the Precinct 5 representative.
