Church selling Boston butts to aid repair efforts

Staff report

LUMBERTON — Zion Hill Baptist Church is holding a fundraiser to help buy supplies to rebuild houses damaged by Hurricane Matthew.

Boston butts will be cooked at the church, located at 12883 U.S. 41 in Lumberton, on Friday and Saturday. Portions can be bought for $22 apiece. Orders of five portions or more are eligible for delivery.

Order can be placed until 9 p.m. Wednesday. Anyone interested in ordering a Boston butt can call 910-991-5908.

The church has been working on hurricane-damaged homes throughout the region, and coordinates living arrangements for homeowners while homes are repaired or rebuilt.

“We have completely done three homes,” said Randy Lewis, a leader or the repair efforts. “We have placed 60 (families) in homes or apartments.”

All profits from the fundraiser will go directly toward resources needed to continue those efforts.
