RAEFORD — One person has been charged with the murder of a Red Springs man found dead in Raeford on Sunday, and Hoke County Sheriff Hubert Peterkin says more charges are expected.

Deputies found 31-year-old Eric A. Terry’s body at about 7:50 p.m. Sunday at 2950 Lindsay Road, which is Rockfish Motorsports, after responding to a call about a vehicle accident on Gillis Hill Road in Hoke County.

According to a statement from Peterkin, Daniel Wells Cummings, of Old Lowery Road in Red Springs, was arrested Monday and charged with first-degree murder and shooting into an occupied vehicle. Cummings, 32, was jailed at the Hoke County jail without bond.

“The investigation shows that the accident was a result of the suspect chasing the victim in a rage, later causing impact to the victim’s car,” the statement said.

Terry lived on Jackson Street in Red Springs.

Anyone with information should call the Hoke County Sheriff’s Office at 910-875-5111.
