Feeding efforts causing traffic woes

Staff Report

LUMBERTON — Officials with the Emergency Operations Center that is coordinating recovery efforts following Hurricane Matthew say that some charitable efforts to feed people are causing difficult road conditions and delaying the arrival of trucks bringing needed supplies and equipment..

Linda Oxendine, director of Public Services for the city of Lumberton, said two such feeding efforts on Friday cause big traffic problems.

She asked anyone that plans such an event, whether it is a business, civic group, private individual to call her at 910-301-0728 so traffic routes can be coordinated so that jams will not occur. Churches who are enlisted with the EOC effort need not call.
