LUMBERTON — A local man was critically injured when he was shot Tuesday night at a convenience store on Fayetteville Road, according to a Lumberton Police Department spokesman

Dokota Bodiford, 20, suffered life-threatening injuries when he was shot at RJ’s Mini Mart, Capt. Terry Parker said. Bodiford, of Mercer Hill Road, went to the convenience store about 11:32 p.m. to meet with someone. Bodiford got into an argument with an unidentified person while in the store’s parking lot. Bodiford was walking across the parking lot when witnesses heard gunshots and saw Bodiford fall to the ground.

No other information is available for release at this time, Parker said. Erich Hackney, an investigator with the Robeson County District Attorney’s office, is assisting in the investigation.
