Police seek help with armed robberies

LUMBERTON — Lumberton police are looking for the public’s assistance to help identify the people who displayed weapons while robbing two businesses Wednesday evening.

There were similarities in the two robberies, which occurred within two hours of each other.

The Super 8 motel in Jackson Court was robbed about 7 p.m., according to police Lt. Harold Jackson. Then, about 8:50 p.m., the Dollar General, a short distance away on on Fayetteville Road, was robbed.

In each instance, two people entered the business and demanded money from the clerks. After the robberies, they fled in a light colored mid-size SUV. No one was injured.
