PEMBROKE — The University of North Carolina at Pembroke’s Regional Center will host the annual Business Visions Banquet and awards program at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
The Regional Center presents awards in the following categories: MBA Student of the Year; Robeson Community College Business Student of the Year; Master’s in Public Administration (MPA) Student of the Year; Entrepreneur of the Year; Business of the Year; Business Person of the Year, The Spirit of Unity Award; and new this year, Nonprofit of the Year.
The keynote speaker will be Anthony Tata, secretary of the North Carolina Department of Transportation. Tata was appointed by Gov. Pat McCrory in January 2013. Tata, who retired from the U.S. Army as a brigadier general, brings to his position more than three decades of public service as a military officer and public school system leader.
“The Regional Center is dependent upon professionals, businesses and students to help drive the economic base of our economy in the local community,” Director Darek Hunt said. “Therefore, each year, we recognize and promote success in the business community.”
