LUMBERTON — Robeson Community College recently named Kelly Blackmon Moran the school’s Instructor of the Year during its Employee Appreciation Banquet.

Moran earned her Bachelor of Science in nursing at East Carolina University in 2003, and received her master’s in nursing with Phoenix University in 2010. She began working for the college part-time in 2008 and was named the Nursing Lab Coordinator in 2010.

She began teaching full-time in the nursing department in 2011.

“Ms. Moran was nominated for this honor by her colleagues because of her 100 percent commitment to student learning, her enthusiasm for learning and her passion for student success beyond the classroom,” said Bill Mauney, vice president of instruction at Robeson Community College.

Moran will be recognized by the state board of community colleges and will compete with the instructors of the year from each of the 58 community colleges in the state for the honor of the North Carolina Community College System Instructor of the Year award.
