LUMBERTON — Residents who need a routine exam or treatment for an illness now have an alternative to the emergency room every day of the year, including holidays.
Employees of the FastMed Urgent Care walk-in clinic held a grand opening ceremony and open house on Saturday. Guests enjoyed clinic tours, free blood pressure checks, refreshments, a visit from FastMed mascot Dr. Kyle and give-aways of T-shirts, pens and hand sanitizer.
The clinic, located at 5080 Kahn Drive in Lumberton, offers a variety of services, including X-rays, physicals and vaccinations for adults and children and treatment for mild to moderate illnesses. The clinic will offer free sports physicals, which normally cost $35, through Oct. 8.
Patients can access FastMed without an appointment seven days a week year-round. The clinic is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
FastMed will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on holidays, including New Year’s Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve.
Samantha Lawler, marketing coordinator for FastMed, said the clinic will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday at 10 a.m.
The Lumberton clinic is the first FastMed Urgent Care location in Robeson County and joins 32 other locations around North Carolina.
“I am very excited about the positive impact FastMed will have on Lumberton and Robeson County,” said Dr. Marshall Nickel, medical director for FastMed’s new Lumberton clinic, in a statement. “Providing quicker, more convenient local access to medical care for illnesses and injuries is a major reason patients trust FastMed.”
