Maiden seeks re-election

PEMBROKE — A Fayetteville resident filed Wednesday to keep his seat on the Lumbee Tribal Council.
William Maiden is seeking re-election to the District 13 seat he has held the past three years. District 13 encompasses Cumberland County, Parkton, Lumber Bridge and North St. Pauls.
Maiden did not provide The Robesonian with any biographical information.
The candidate filing period for the Nov. 12 election continues through Sept. 13. Candidates for any of the seven seats up for election on the council can file at the elections office at 707 Union Chapel Road, weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. All of the positions are for three-year term.
Tribal candidates must be enrolled members of the tribe; at least 21 years of age; have maintained their principal residence in their district for at least one year; and have no felony conviction.
The filing fee is $250.
