LUMBERTON — A 23-year-old Vermont woman says she was held in a Lumberton hotel room and raped over a period of 10 days, according to a police report.

The woman, who was driving home from Florida, and the alleged rapist were both guests at the Traveler’s Inn on Capuano Drive between Jan. 22 and Feb. 1, according to Lumberton police Capt. Terry Parker. No arrests have been made in the case, although police have identified ae suspect.

A minor was present in the room when the rape is said to have occurred, Parker said.

It is unclear under what circumstances the two met at the hotel, but according to the report, the woman was held at gunpoint.

The woman reported the kidnapping and sexual assault from the hotel on the morning of Feb. 1. She was also taken to Southeastern Regional Medical Center, Parker said.

Parker said the case is still under investigation. Anyone with information should call police Detective Chuck Leavitt at 910-671-3845.
