HOPE MILLS — A Robeson County man was killed this weekend when he was thrown from his truck while driving in Cumberland County.

John Charles Tart, 32, died Saturday morning when his 2000 GMC pickup truck ran off of Waldos Beach Road, according to a report filed by Trooper W.C. Townsend. The truck then hit a tree, collided with a ditch and overturned, the report said.

The accident happened about 12:30 a.m. about two miles from Hope Mills. Tart, who lived on Everett Road in Parkton, was alone in the car.

According to the report, alcohol was a factor. It has not yet been determined whether Tart was wearing a seat belt.
