LUMBERTON — The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a 22-year-old man whom his father says was shot in the chest while outside giving their dogs some water.
Jordan Matthew Arnette died Monday night at a hospital after suffering a single gunshot to the chest, according to Maj. Anthony Thompson, chief of detectives for the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office.
Woodrow Arnette told deputies his son went outside of their Thunder Bird Road home at about 9 p.m. While he was in the kitchen getting the dogs food, Woodrow Arnette said he heard a gunshot, Thompson said.
Woodrow Arnette then went to the front door and “saw his son stumbling in the front door, caught him and laid him down on the couch and called 911,” Thompson said.
No arrests have been made.
