LUMBERTON — A Lumberton man was injured Monday night when an intruder entered his home and shot him, according to Lumberton police Lt. Harold Jackson.

Chuckajuna McGirt, 33, was treated at Southeastern Regional Medical Center and has been released, a hospital spokesperson said.

McGirt was at his West Fifth Street home when someone kicked in his back door and demanded money, Jackson said. The person shot McGirt and left the home before McGirt called 911 at about 11:30 p.m, according to a police report.

Nothing was stolen but about $125 in damage was done to the door.

Anyone with information should call Detective Dereck Evans at 910-671-3845.
