LUMBERTON — Three people, including a 19-year-old who says he was shot in his yard, are recovering after being injured in two separate shootings.

Two men were injured while driving in St. Pauls and exchanging gunshots with the passengers of another vehicle, according to St. Pauls Police Chief R. Thomas Hagens.

Reginal Robinson, 19, and Delton Lewis, 22, were in surgery Thursday morning and had not been interviewed by police, Hagens said.

Hagens said the shooting occurred at about 12:30 a.m. near the intersection of West Broad and North Fifth streets. When police arrived there, the two vehicles had left.

Hagens said Lumberton police found the car Robinson and Lewis were in at the hospital. The other vehicle and its passengers have not been identified.

Robinson, who lives on North Chapel Street, and Lewis, of Woodside Avenue, were both treated at Southeastern Regional Medical Center and have since been transferred, according to a hospital spokesperson.

In a separate incident, 19-year-old Douglas Ivey was shot in the upper chest while he was outside of his Onnie Joe Road home in Maxton on Wednesday afternoon, according to Maj. Anthony Thompson, chief of detectives for the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office.

Ivey said the shot came from a white four-door vehicle, but provided no description of the shooter.

Ivey was taken to Southeastern Regional Medical Center. No information was available on his condition this morning.
