RED SPRINGS — A decision has been made regarding today’s Robeson County Slugfest and it’s one officials feared would occur.

PSRC athletic director Jason Suggs and tournament officials talked things over Saturday morning and deemed the playing surface at Red Springs unsuitable for play, thus postponing first-round games until Monday. Suggs made the call at 7:45 a.m. and notified coaches shortly thereafter.

“I was hoping to get a reprieve but Mother Nature was not kind last night and the games have been postponed,” Suggs said.

According to various forecasts, a light rain is slated to enter the area at 11 a.m. and continue throughout the evening. Coupled with Friday night’s wet weather, accumulation could be near one inch.
