LUMBERTON — Brandon Anderson, a 17-year-old senior at Lumberton High School, was recently sworn into the Army National Guard, where he will serve as military police.


He is the son of Darlene Anderson and Bobby Wilcox, and the grandson of the late Samuel Anderson and the late Carol B. Martin. After his training, Anderson plans to attend The University of North Carolina at Pembroke.


MAXTON — American Legion Post 117 recently recognized two Purnell Swett High School Junior ROTC cadets.


Capt. Tyler Cummins was presented with the organization’s Military Excellence award and Lt. Madison Hunt was presented with a Scholastic Excellence award.
