Robeson team helps end 3-hour standoff

ELIZABETHTOWN — A tactical team from the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office helped Bladen County deputies capture a man after a three-hour standoff on Tuesday.
Tony Elmore Lewis, 51, of 92 Curtis Lewis Road, has been charged with attempted murder for shooting his brother, according to the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office.
Bladen County deputies found Terry Devane Lewis, of N.C. 41 West in Dublin, in the front yard of the Curtis Road home with a shotgun wound to the stomach shortly after a 911 call on Tuesday.
According to the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office, Tony Lewis was inside the home and armed with several weapons. He refused to come out until the Robeson County team flushed him with tear gas.
Terry Lewis was in critical condition on Wednesday at an undisclosed hospital. Tony Lewis was placed in the Bladen County Jail under a $104,100 secured bond.
