LAURINBURG — A 15-year-old from Robeson County has been charged with conspiring with his 13-year-old girlfriend to kill her mother, according to Scotland County sheriff’s Investigator Gyivan Jackson. The plan was discovered through social media.
The two teenagers have each been charged with conspiracy to commit murder, Jackson said. They were arrested Thursday and are being held in the Cumberland Regional Juvenile Detention Center. The names of the two teenagers have not been released because of their ages.
The girl and her mother live in Scotland County; it was not clear where in Robeson County the 15-year-old lives.
Jackson said the girl’s mother, whom she did not want to identify, reported the two to the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office Thursday after checking her daughter’s Facebook account, where she had found a string of messages that revealed a plan to kill her.
“The victim’s daughter and her daughter’s boyfriend had communicated on several occasions to have the mother murdered,” Jackson said.
Jackson said the investigation is ongoing. Jackson did not want to release any details about how the two teenagers planned on killing the woman.
