LUMBERTON — Fans can now vote for their favorite couple preparing to tear up the dance floor at United Way’s third annual Dancing With the Robeson County Stars competition.
The 32 dancers, who have each committed to raise $5,000 for United Way, were paired up on Nov. 3 and have been practicing their moves since. They’ll present their choreographed routines on March 28 and March 29 at the Southeastern North Carolina Agricultural Events Center.
The couple that raises the most money via votes and other donations will be presented the coveted mirror ball trophy. Winners will also be named in the categories of best dance and best costumes.
Proceeds from the event will go to education initiatives, including the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, which provides free books to children. The event raised more than $180,000 last year and $140,000 the year before.
