MAXTON — A Union Chapel man was reported missing on Saturday, the day before the home where he was last seen burned down, according to Maj. Anthony Thompson, chief of detectives for the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office.

Delton Lloyd Cummings, 53, was last seen or heard from by his family at the Iron Horse Drive home where he was staying on Friday and was reported missing the next day, Thompson said.

Thompson said the mobile home burned down shortly after midnight on Sunday. Both Cummings’ disappearance and the fire are being investigated.

Cummings is described as Indian male about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing about 125 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.

Cummings has a criminal history and The Robesonian was able to get a dated photograph from the Robeson County Detention Center.

Cummings was jailed in 1992 on a felony assault charge. He was charged with escaping from prison while serving time for larceny and traffic violations, according to the state Department of Public Safety.

Anyone with information should call Maj. Thompson at 910-671-3100.
