LUMBERTON — The Lumberton City Council during a regular meeting on Monday night will hold a public hearing on applying for a $1.2 million grant to repair some of the city’s sewer lines.
The council, meeting as the Council Policy Committe on Wednesday, voted to apply for the Community Development Block Grant from the North Carolina Department of Environmental & Natural Resources and volunteer to supply a $50,000 local match in order to make the city’s application more competitive.
The grant would be used to repair failing sewer pipes in the Lambeth Street area.
The meeting, which begins at 7 p.m., will also include public hearings on separate rezoning requests for property located at 3000 E. Elizabethtown Road, 700 Roberts Ave. and 2101 E. Seventh St.
Mark Reif, of Mountaire Farms, is expected to be presented with a Pride in Lumberton Award.
