PEMBROKE — A 75-year-old Pembroke woman was killed Saturday when her truck struck a tree, according to the state Highway Patrol.

Delois Dial Moore was driving on Prospect Road near St. Anna Road at about 12:30 p.m. when she lost control of her 2008 Ford Pickup, according to a report filed by Trooper H.P. Locklear.

According to the report, Moore, who lives on Prospect Road, ran off the road to the right and over-corrected before running off the road to the left and hitting the tree. The accident occurred about 1.4 miles north of Pembroke.

Moore was transported to Southeastern Regional Medical Center where she later died, according to Sgt. Daniel Hilburn.

Speed was not a factor in the accident, Hilburn said, and Moore was wearing a seat-belt.

According to the report, Moore’s car sustained about $5,000 in damage when it was crushed by the tree.
